Catfish Review
This is a documentary about a man that has a relationship with someone over Facebook. If you have ever started a relationship with someone on the internet this is an excellent movie for you to watch. You could learn a thing or two about how you should judge people over the internet, and what you should really expect if you ever plan on meeting them. The main character in this documentary is kind of a fruity guy that finds himself in a few awkward situations that YOU might find yourself in some day. While watching this flick you will probably find yourself thinking back to the people you met online, and how disastrous that could have been. The makers of this movie claim that the events where filmed in real life as they happened, none of this was planned, so this is a great source of information!
There are a lot of plot twists in this documentary that will keep you on your toes. I can honestly say that I was very entertained throughout the duration of the entire movie. It is so crazy that it seems like it had to be planned out, like there is almost no way that this could have just happened and they just happened to get it on tape. But since this is a documentary is supports their claims that this is all real. As far as I can see there is no evidence of any of this being planned so I believe it! And I think you will too. Overall you will probably be surprised or laughing about a hundred times throughout this movie. I guarantee that you will think differently about the internet and Facebook, and social networking in general.
Basically in this movie there is the main person Nev, and his three artistic roommates that are filming a documentary about his life. He finds a friend on Facebook that he can send pictures to have her paint them. It is a little girl that is very talented at painting, and over time they talk more and more and become friends. After months of interaction Nev starts to talk to her older sister quite a bit and they develop an online relationship with each other. But things start to not add up, like whenever Nev tries to talk to the little girl that does his paintings he can only get a hold of her mother who says that she is sleeping or out at a friends’ house. Nev takes action to find out what is going on and you will be very interested in the outcome of all of this I almost promise you.
My favorite part of the movie was when Nev started to get suspicious of this family that he met on Facebook because I was suspicious too. He started to creep as hard as possible trying to find illegitimacies with what they were saying, and I think you will think that’s pretty funny. At one point he kind of freaks out from the stress of being filmed all of the time. He starts to act like a child for a few moments while having an argument with one of his roommates. You will be quite entertained. You will enjoy the end of this movie the most though, I pretty much had my jaw dropped for the entire ending.
I recommend this movie to anyone that has a Facebook or is thinking about getting one. In my opinion this is the most legit way you can show somebody that they should have some caution when starting relationships with people that they meet on the internet. This movie is loaded with tons of useful information that can be used by people that don’t even have a Facebook and never want one! The title of this movie pretty much says it all. Vince Pierce is the father of the girl that Nev started this online relationship with and he had something pretty insightful to say, which is a great way of wrapping this up. Quote from Vince Pierce: “They used to tank cod from Alaska all the way to China. They'd keep them in vats in the ship. By the time the codfish reached China, the flesh was mush and tasteless. So this guy came up with the idea that if you put these cods in these big vats, put some catfish in with them and the catfish will keep the cod agile. And there are those people who are catfish in life. And they keep you on your toes. They keep you guessing, they keep you thinking, they keep you fresh. And I thank god for the catfish because we would be droll, boring and dull if we didn't have somebody nipping at our fin”. Are you a catfish?

catfish: the end
wow, that was not extremely exciting but still damn. That lady was freakin weird, this is part of why I don't even have a facebook. Vince was the most legit dude in this movie. Hairy chest guy got played like a fool. The best part of this movie was when Nev said he was ready to leave when that crazy lady asked him what he was thinking. I think there were a number of times that Nev should have dipped out of that house, if he would have gone in there alone he would definatly be stuffed and standin in her living room. like a dawooog.

I saw it coming that she wasn't real. I don't understand why they started filming this guy though because he's kind of uninteresting, they just kind of randomly stumbled upon this situation. This movie is rediculous.

Technology!
It is pretty much expected that today just about everyone that can afford a cell phone has one, unless they’re Amish or super old fashioned. It is no longer taboo to be in the middle of something and have your phone ring, and you answer it. Cell phones have connected people on a level we never have before. It is pretty much assumed that anyone that has a cell phone always has it on them, whether they’re out of town, at work, school, grocery shopping etc. It’s like there is no longer an assumption of any personal time because the reason you have a cell phone is to be able to be reached. Acceptable communication behaviors are changing. In the last few years in school you would have your cell phone taken until then end of class if you were caught texting. Today from personal experience teachers either don’t mind anymore, have given up, or they just act like they saw nothing. Also it used to be considered rude and unacceptable to answer your phone during dinner. That is no longer really the case, even when eating with the family people tend to answer their phones whenever they ring.
There is a definite negative side to having cell phones though. Since you have a phone to be able to be reached at any time people get irritated and think you’re ignoring them if you don’t answer. Even if you legitimately weren’t able to answer their call and you forget to call them back it can defiantly cause relationship problems.
